We are seeking a proactive and skilled Journalist / Reporter to join our dynamic team in Mijas, Andalusia. This role is crucial for covering local news, human interest stories, community events, and regional developments relevant to the English-speaking population across Mijas and the wider Costa del Sol area. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for storytelling, and the ability to work independently to uncover compelling narratives and deliver accurate, engaging content under tight deadlines.

Responsabilidades Clave

• Research, write, and report news stories, features, and analyses for the English-speaking community in print and online formats.
• Conduct interviews with sources, officials, community members, and experts to gather information and perspectives.
• Verify facts and information for accuracy, objectivity, and adherence to journalistic ethics.
• Attend local events, press conferences, council meetings, and other relevant gatherings.
• Collaborate effectively with editors, photographers, and other team members to produce high-quality, compelling content.
• Adhere to strict deadlines and maintain high standards of journalistic integrity.
• Develop and maintain a strong network of local contacts and sources within the community.
• Generate story ideas and contribute to editorial planning.
• Utilize social media and digital platforms to promote content and engage with readers.

Habilidades Requeridas

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with impeccable grammar and syntax.
• Proven ability to research thoroughly, conduct compelling interviews, and write engaging, factual content.
• Strong understanding of journalistic principles, ethics, and media law.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
• Proficiency with digital publishing tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
• Valid driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.
• Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines.

Cualificaciones Preferidas

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
• Previous experience (2+ years) as a journalist or reporter, preferably in a local news environment.
• Experience living or working in Spain, particularly Andalusia.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
• Basic experience with photography or videography for news gathering.
