The Sociedad Protectora de Animales y Plantas de Cataluña (SPAP) is seeking dedicated and empathetic Animal Shelter Volunteers for Rescue Work in Barcelona. This vital role involves direct participation in the rescue and care of animals, providing essential support to our core team during critical situations. You will be instrumental in ensuring animals receive immediate attention, comfort, and a safe transition into our care facility. Responsabilidades Clave

• Assist in the humane rescue of abandoned, injured, or distressed animals from various locations.
• Safely transport rescued animals to the shelter for immediate assessment and care.
• Provide initial comfort, feeding, and basic hygiene to newly arrived animals.
• Support the veterinary team with minor treatments and animal handling during examinations.
• Clean and maintain animal enclosures and rescue equipment to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Document rescue operations, animal conditions, and intake information accurately.
• Participate in community outreach and public awareness campaigns about animal welfare.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and animal handling guidelines during rescue and shelter activities.

Habilidades Requeridas

• Strong passion for animal welfare and a genuine love for animals.
• Ability to handle animals gently and confidently, including those who may be distressed or fearful.
• Physical fitness and stamina to assist with rescues in various environments and lift moderate weights.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful or emergency situations.
• Basic understanding of animal behavior and safety precautions.

Cualificaciones Preferidas

• Previous experience volunteering or working with animals in a shelter or rescue setting.
• First aid certification for animals or humans.
• Valid driving license and access to a vehicle (advantageous for transport support).
• Fluency in Spanish or Catalan.
• Availability to commit to a regular schedule, including some weekends or evenings.
