We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Rigging Technician to join our operations team at the Port of Malaga. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient planning, execution, and supervision of lifting operations involving heavy machinery, containers, and other cargo. This role requires a strong understanding of rigging principles, equipment maintenance, and strict adherence to safety protocols within a bustling port environment. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth flow of goods through our terminal, contributing directly to our operational success and client satisfaction.

Responsabilidades Clave

• Plan and execute complex lifting and rigging operations for various types of cargo and equipment.
• Inspect, maintain, and ensure the safe working order of all rigging gear, including slings, shackles, cables, and lifting beams.
• Operate and guide cranes, forklifts, and other heavy lifting equipment during rigging operations, coordinating with crane operators and other team members.
• Conduct risk assessments for lifting tasks and implement appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and international standards for rigging and lifting.
• Document and report on equipment inspections, maintenance, and any incidents or near misses.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to continuously improve rigging practices and safety awareness.
• Collaborate with terminal operators, stevedores, and other port personnel to ensure efficient cargo handling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve rigging-related issues quickly and safely to minimize operational delays.

Habilidades Requeridas

• Proven experience as a Rigging Technician or similar role in a heavy industrial or maritime setting.
• In-depth knowledge of rigging techniques, principles, and safety standards.
• Proficiency in inspecting and maintaining a wide range of rigging equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret load charts, rigging diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of crane signals and communication protocols.
• Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to all operational procedures.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Cualificaciones Preferidas

• Valid rigging certification from a recognized institution (e.g., LEEA, NCCCO).
• Previous experience working in a port, shipyard, or marine terminal.
• Familiarity with container handling equipment and methodologies.
• Knowledge of Spanish maritime safety regulations.
• Forklift and/or crane operating certification.
